We also can use your time and your talent; what creative gifts can you share with
us? What business skills and acumen can you offer to help us achieve our Mission
and our Vision for the Surviving Spirit? Do you have time to help us? Please let
us know.
An example of help we are receiving - Linda Downing has graciously made us some beautiful
quilts to sell and she has also crafted some incredible scarves that we give to survivors
of trauma, abuse or mental illness. These scarves are a gift of caring and love from
the Surviving Spirit made possible by Linda's time and talent and she has offered
to help us as our Volunteer Coordinator in the making of scarves. We can use more
help in that area alone - can you sew? If so and you'd like to help, please let Linda
know.

Linda Downing volunteer
Hi my name is Linda Downing I am the mother of 3 grown children Jennifer, Jason and Eric. I am also a very proud grandmother of Isabella 12 and Ricky 9.
I suffered emotional abuse from my ex-husband who was the love of my life. It came to a point where I wanted to reach up to heaven, so the pain would go away. I would beg God "just let me die. I can't go on anymore."
Many nights while living in Ft Lauderdale I would walk into that ocean and wanted to keep going, but knew that it was wrong, somehow through family and friends I am coming out of it.
Mike who is a personal friend of mine helped me in many ways, he gave me his album Train of Tears, I would listen to it day and night, listening to his music gave me the courage to pick up and go on. I found out what Mike has gone through and my heart went out to him. No one should suffer what he has been through. Mike and I went to high school together.
He asked me if I would want to help out the Surviving Spirit by volunteering my time and making scarves. I did and they have already been distributed to a few people and they all loved them and the joy I felt was incredible.
If I can take someone's pain away for a second, then it makes me smile, for I have helped a person. Thank you for letting me help in such a small way, but in my eyes, a big way.

We are now able to accept donations securely from checks, credit and debit cards
